Terminating Orange contract

I wish to cancel my Orange contract and go onto PAYG. I wanted to escape
paying for a 13th month but I'm half way through the 11th month and
expected I'd have to give 30 days notice and pay part of month 13.

I called Orange who asked me if I would like to go onto Orange PAYG. I
said this was fine and they said a SIM card would be sent out. I asked at
what point my contract would be considered closed and they said as soon as
I call up to activate the PAYG SIM it would be cancelled with no more to
pay.

Of course I don't expect to be able to cancel before the 12 month minimum
term was up but it sounds like they were saying I could avoid the 30 days
notice by switching to Orange PAYG.

If I call on the day that my contract ends once I've received the SIM am I
really going to not give 30 days notice to cancel the contract?

I was on Orange sim only tariff but wanted to go back onto PAYG. According
to the terms i had to give 30 days notice. I phoned them 10 days before my
bill was due and asked when i could cancel. They told me that they would
send out the PAYG sim card and that my contract would be cancelled on the
day i phoned up to activate the sim (with my old number on it). They also
indicated that my 30 days notice began with my phone call. The PAYG sim
arrived approx 3 weeks later and i rang up to start it off and within 10mins
my contract sim stopped working - it did however take them approx 18 hours
to activate my sim therefore i lost any texts and calls in that time as the
number was dead when i tried to ring it before it was re-activated. Last
week (6 or so weeks later) i received a refund as my contract was terminated
half way through the month (i terminated on the 5th Jan and my billing date
was the 26th). So to sum up (sorry for the long tale) my contract was
terminated on the day i rang up to activate my old number on the new PAYG
sim.

Unfortunately not. The SIM card will not be despatched to you for
another 25 days. By the time you receive it it will be 27 days, and they
aren't that bothered about the remaining 3.

Hi,

I called up Orange yesterday as I had the same issue, my contract will
be finishing on the 5th march 08.

They informed me they would send a new sim card whereby i can change
this over to PAYG. They informed me i should receieve this within 7
days
at my billing address. I suggest you call them back Bob and say when
will i get this SIM.

Let me know how you get on :)

Al
