Hello,

Does anyone in this NG know of a GSM device that can automatically
forward a short SMS message (received from either an automatic alarm
system or an individual) to several other GSM mobiles, WITHOUT involving
the use of a landline or a PC ?

I'm looking for a stand-alone mobile/portable unit which could well be
basically a GSM mobile into which I could put a SIM card. On receipt of
an incoming SMS message the unit should respond by sequentially calling
several pre-programmed mobile numbers (maybe 6 or so of them) to forward
that SMS message (unmodified) to each of them in turn.

Does anything like this already exist as a product, preferably
available in the UK?  Any thoughts, anyone?

Can't suggest anythinbg specific, but I think I've heard of software for
SmartPhones (Symbian? or WindowsCE...) that will do some fairly clever SMS
handling stuff, so maybe you could check along those lines?

Best let MI5 know what you are upto now, to avoid potential
misunderstandings later...

Sounds like a job for a Windows Mobile smart phone. Doing a quick google
shows a lot of third party SMS programs.
