Orange SMS Issue

Hi,

I've just slipped my new orange contract mobile into my old orange handset
(ebayed the new one, I don't like Nokia 6600s). Now I'm unable to send text
messages.

The phone itself is Sony Ericsson W850i and is working fine with a different
SIM in it.
The new contract SIM also works fine in another phone.
However, put the new contract SIM in the w850i and when you go to write a
message all you get are Picture Message, Voice Message, E-mail! It's driving
me mad.

Orange were useless and said they can't support the handset anymore, then
sent me to the Sony Erricson site. I've updated the w850i using the Sony
software but the problem still persists. Strangely enough I can send SMSs
through the fantastic MyPhoneExplorer software when I hook the thing up to
the PC - however as I say, there's no option to send a plain old text on the
phone itself!

Please can anyone help?

Andy

With the SIM in the W850i call customer services and aks for some SIM
updates as you have "send SMS" missing.

Have you received any SIM Updates when the offending SIM was in the
offending phone? It may need a "kick" with the specific combination of
handset/SIM together, if that makes sense.

Otherwise, if the problem is still ongoing drop me a mail. I may not be able
to reply for a couple of days, so advance warning!

Cheers

Jon.
