Hi

I want to give my daughter a mobile for when we go on holiday or she is
with school trips as a safety net.

Anyway - I only want the phone to be able to dial say numbers in the
address book so I can then restrict who she calls.

Any advice if there is a sepcific mobile phone that will do this,
whether deisgned for children or just having the features?

Thanks

Scott

It's a standard feature on most mobile phones I've used. I think it is
called a fixed dialling list.

What you describe is called "fixed dialling". All phones support this,
however it's a network-dependent feature and not all UK networks support
this "out-of-the-box". Orange do for example, but with Vodafone it used
to be the case that a special "fixed-dialling" SIM card was required.

Be careful when you buy.

I've only seen fixed dialling available on sim cards from orange, t-
mobile and 3 so you'd need to pick one of those networks. Then under
"security settings" somewhere there should be the option to switch the
fixed dialling on.
