Nokia 6300 quiet earpiece

I find the sound from the earphone on my Nokia 6300 is not loud enough
to hear it properly in noisy areas, even when it's at maximum. I have
to press it very hard against my ear to have any chance of hearing it.

I've updated the software via the Nokia website.

Would it be possible to get someone to hack into the software to make
it louder? My local mobile phone unlocker says it can't be
done .....................?

I doubt it is possible to do that. How does the earphone connect? Does it
use a Nokia Pop-Port, or some similar propriety connector, or is it a
standard 2.5/3.5mm jack?
If the latter, it might be possible to find a little in-line amplifier that
will make the signal louder. If the former, you are probably stuck with it
as it is, unless you know someone who is handy with an electronics kit that
could knock something up for you...(??)

When I say earpiece I may be confusing things - I just mean the bit of
the phone you put to your ear - not some sort of added equipment

If it is for phone calls then is it worth the effort. For about £15
you can get a bluetooth headset that will probably have more output
than you need. You are aware, I assume, that there is a volume
control, on the LHS of the 6230 - someone once posted here and didn't
know that, so, just in case, I thought I'd mention that.
Further, I have found that the Nokia headset, that I use with my
6230i, no longer works because the connection is worn. Sooner or later
that could happen to yours.

Ahh, sorry, I missunderstood...

What I tend to do, if I'm in a very noisy place is switch the phone to
'speakerphone' mode, but still hold it close to my ear. I find then that it
is more than loud enough in almost any environment...
