Roughly how much do you spend per month on your phone contract? If you are a
'good' customer and spend upwards of 30-40 quid then I'd be suprised if you
don't get a call from their 'retentions' department trying to tempt you to
stay.
If you only spend a small amount with them (say 10-20 quid a month), they
might not be so bothered about keeping your custom, and will be quite happy
for you to try and find a better deal elsewhere...

I pay £35 a month and I got a call from Orange this morning offering
me a better deal and an upgrade to my phone but as I am on the final
stages of my cashback deal which ends up with me paying nothing for
the 12 months up to May 2008 I don't need it.... whether I'll be able
to get a similar deal then will be a different matte r.

The phone contract is a basic £35, then theres a few extra quid for itemised
billing and texts sent from/to overseas numbers, but hardly ever over £50.
Mostly just under or just over £40.

Michael came today to fix my daughter's laptop.
He's changing from Orange to o2.
He was on about 900 mins for about 75 quid
He's gonna be on 1200 mins for 45 quid
Orange couldn't/wouldn't match it
Maybe time for you to move?

An Orange shop could beat that if he was prepared to trade in an old
phone and he was a high enough spender (band 3 or higher).
More discount would be available if he was prepared to go 24 months, or
if he worked for a local retailer.

To be worth hanging onto you have to spend a fair bit of money every
month. It's that simple.
