Just rcieved notice that my sim has been handed to Royal Mail & should be
with me in 2 working days..... or longer, but that's not O2's fault, still
can't complain for a freebie! Good thing is too they've sent out which
number it will be so I can start letting people know now! Do you have to
make a £10 purchase before it becomes "live"?

Yes, but I would wait till they turn up before you start advertising
numbers. I have had a few go missing in the post and then if they send out a
replacement you get other numbers.

I believe you have to make a £20 credit purchase to activate the number, for
the 1st two months, i.e. 300 + 300 free texts. Also it takes ~48 hours after
activation before texts are free.

The new letters say £10 and it takes between a few minutes and a few days
for activation. Have seen some activated inside an hour have seen some not
activated for 5 days. It is though usually around 24 hours.

I'd agree here, I seem to recall reading somewhere that the £20 initial
credit was a misprint.

SIM arrived this morning, sez £10 top up, freebies activated in 24 hours. I
suppose the only way of finding out if they have been activated, is by
sending a text & seeing if it charges for it!
