You can top up with a total of £30 in which case Virgin will give you
the unlock codes if you ask.

The only other way I found was to use an unlocking cable and some (free)
unlocking software. Not sure if the exact cable is available: I modified
a T100 cable.

As the other chap said, you have three options.  Topup £30 with virgin, buy
a data cable and locate software, take it to your friendly neighbourhood
indie phone store/stall and pay avg. £10.

I managed to get a T100 cable for £3 (they're £6 now from the same
place) and some fiddling around with a soldering iron and the tiny
contacts converted it into an unlocking cable.

I might add that it isn't an ordinary data cable. You need a special
cable that put the C100 into a test mode where it can be unlocked.

I've seen various suggestions about how to do it. Some involve one cable
to put it into test mode and another to unlock some just one single
cable which is what I did.

Tried that, they couldn't do it.

Took mine to a local unlocking shop today, it cost me 15 quid. I know its a
bit over the odds but I didnt want to arse about with cables and downloading
software and was too impatient to send it away somewhere cheaper.

cheers,

As long as you purchase the phone between 1st of November and 31st of
January. It doesn't state when it has to be registered to claim your £50
cash back. Although the free £50 cashback offer finished on 23rd December.

Thats how I remembered it - end of jan.  I though the whole idea of all
these C100's in circulation was because of the cashback.  Not a bad second
phone but not worth £70.
