Avon cosmetics phone offer

Not sure if this has already been discussed, so sorry if I am repeating.

Avon, the cosmetics firm, is doing an offer where if you spend £15 or more
on their overpriced cosmetics you get a free PAYG Seimens A55 or Samsung
A300 connected to Orange.

Does this seem a good deal, to use as a spare phone?

TIA
Rob

Every Orange shop in the country has sold out of PAYT A55,
and say they are waiting for more stock

It's an excellent deal, if you can get one

However - they're now selling through stock of A60's, 5210's, 3310's and
My-X2's to meet the demand - and the vouchers are redeemable until the end
of April.

Colchester have 1300 pre-orders. It's a months work for someone to
register them. Complete operational nightmare.

Yeah, we have a couple of hundred pre-orders.  We're starting to clear
through them though - having cleared it with the AM to open late an extra
night a week to deal soley with Avon customers!  It's complete mayhem.  I'm
thankful we're secluded from the mainland UK crowds now...

It says A300, but on the voucher it says Nokia 6100 if you get a contract.
That is a crap offer though, its free anyway for the same tariff in the
shops.  And you can get better camera phones free as well.  Also they have
now said that they wont upgrade existing numbers on PAYG, quoting rule 11,
Orange can change the terms and conditions without prior notice.  Probably
because you get an extra £10 credited to your account.  But when you get
your phone home, phone the registration dept using the free phone number on
the upgrade slip on the box and tell them that the salesman in the shop has
made a mistake and you wanted to upgrade your number.

They CAN do it for you.

It just depends if you get some lazy slob who cant be bothered or a really
helpful girl like the one I spoke to.

Can I ask where you get this offer?  I could do with a new phone to
replace my broken T39. (It switches off on incoming calls!)

Steve.

It was in an Avon booklet I saw in a cafe I popped into this afternoon.  If
you e-mail me direct I can send you a scan of the page.  The £15 will buy
you hardly anything though but at least you get something.

They started, 6 weeks ago in the Avon catalogue, you have to remember that
some reps are 2 campaigns behind the others.

Orange started with A55's, then went to my-X2 then 3310, then 5210, then
A60, but as this offer is now a month old, 1st collections started on 1/2/4,
all the local shops are back to A55's.

Glad I got my 10 Nokia 5210's when I did, now they have gone back to crappy
Siemens which can't be as easily unlocked

Can you only exchange the voucher for the phone specified on it or do the
ORange shops have some discretion over which one they give you?  A Nokia
would certainly be preferable to the A55.

When presenting the voucher at an orange shop you will go to the bottom
of the pre-order list, and as and when stock arrives you will have what
you are given. Nokia 5210 is on of the substitute phones but it's pure
luck that will get you one of those.

i was on a list at middlesbrough and redcar stores since day 1 and i went on
a run out with a mate to gatehead metrocentre and just walked in there and
got one straight away, apparently not many people think of going there when
i enquired as to why so much stock.
