My number is being ported from O2 to Orange today. My O2 phone has had the
SIM switched off, and someone sent me a text, which arrived on my new Orange
phone.
However, I still can't dial out or text from the new Orange phone, as there
is still a call bar. Is this normal? I would have thought as the actual
number has now been changed accross - I can ring the Orange phone - that the
bar would be removed. Or is it all done in stages? Perhaps I'm just too
impatient '-)
Any advice appreciated.

IIRC, your number will be completely ported at around 1500hrs (3pm) on the
day of your port. You probably won't be able to make calls and send texts
until mid-afternoon. You should get a load of wierd SMS mesages, called
"SIM updates". This will refresh your SIM card and everything should be
normal when these messages stop coming.
One thing you could do meanwhile is power-cycle your phone - say every half
our or so. Then you might be able to make calls, although I doubt this will
happen before 1500.

Just did, they sent the sim update straight away. All ok now. Should have
thought of that earlier. Duh.
Thanks guys.
