My mobile is marked as a Nokia BML-3. When the phone I am calling
picks up I can hear them loud and clear but they can hear nothing from
me. I cannot even find the 'Ole where the speech goes. I've removed
the covers and the hearing part/loudspeaker at the top is obvious, but
where is the mic hole? Even if I find it can anyone help with
regaining my speech please? These things are hardly worth paying for
repair,

Sounds like the mic is faulty, easy to replace, dismantle with a Torx T6
screwdriver, and change the bottom module.

Is the bottom module the black plastic bit about 15mmx5mmx5mm with the charger hole?

Many thanks Steve. How many times have I solved a PC fault by taking
bits out and putting the same bits back? It seems mobile phones work
that way too, I took everything out, incl the bottom module, put it
all back and i can talk again....

Same problem arises, modules get dirty contacts
On mobile phones particularly Sim contacts, as they carry millivolts

Is that why I sometimes get "Sim card not ready" when trying to access
the address book? I've tried cleaning the SIM and contacts in the
phone. The phone is working fine.........

That's more likely to do with a clocking problem in the sim,
which can be caused by bad contacts.
Does it happen with other Sims? If not If it persists, try getting a replacement
Sim.

Regret thats the only SIM I have. The problem is intermittent. Whats
the best cleaning agent?

Most agree a pencil rubber (eraser) is best

Sorry Steve my reply did'nt post for some reason - I'll try and borrow
another SIM but the fault is intermittent so even if I used another
SIM for 5 minutes it may not be a valid test. What's the best way to
clean the contacts, the same as cleaning adapter cards in a PC? If
it's s clocking problem would'nt that have existed since manufacture?
It did work until recently
