Received my V60p on Thursday and was quite impressed with the
size..thinner than my Nextel I 90. Charged it about 3 hours and it was
ready. Activated  phone via *228 and I was all set. Convenience plus to
Verizon.
Ok, now it was time to get the PTT to work. Minor problem considering
it was all new. Some sort of Codes not entered into my account. Then
could not receive calls, went to Voicemail right away. I admit a little
angry, but after  a few calls to Customer Service , it was resolved. One
discrepancy regarding Customer Service agents was, that one told me I
needed to only enter 7 digits to use PTT, when in fact I needed all 10.
Once again, I credit this to the "newness" of the service. A customer
service rep transferred me to a supervisor, who  apoligized tremendously
and credited me with 1 day of service. So, another plus to
Verizon...customer service was excellent.
Coverage over Nextel wins out. I went to the "dead spots" that Nextel
has on the southwest side of the city, and Verizon had none. I did find
one though, was about 2 blocks, then I got a site. Solid signal, bars
did not flucuate like Nextel's signal strength. Quality of calls were
excellent according to friends I called. "Are you calling me from your
home phone Dave, doesn't sound like your Nextel" ???? Enough said
there...Coverage and Signal quality a plus.
V60p..having problems with batteries though. Supposedly this will
get better after a few charge-discharge cycles, or so I was told. Hoping
so, not too happy phone won't last a full day.
PTT Setup is a little inconvenient on one hand, and very good on
another. You can't add PTT Contacts from the phone itself, but you have
to go on-line to do it. It's a good idea on one hand, but a little
inconvenient on another. I've registered and have it all set up. It will
elimiante calls to Customer Service, and gives me the power to do alot
more by myself.
PTT Call Quality EXCEDES Nextel's call quality. Wow, how clear the
PTT radio is. If you have Nextel and hear this you will be impressed.
You will also need to get used to the waiting an extra second to talk.
If you had two good sites on Nextel, it was more instant. However,
Nextel's did not always go through even if you had strong signal.
Final thoughts: I'll be sticking with Verizon PTT. I'm sorry I left
them 3 years ago, but as a customer service rep said, good to have you
back. I'm sure phone choices will improve, as well as software updates
on the PTT network. A couple of more cell sites won't hurt either, but
overall serice is 110% beter than Nextel. I was in areas the past couple
of days that Nextel's sucked, and Verizon won hands down.

Depends. If you only charged it 3 hours at first, it may not have been
fully charged. then again, many new phones have positioning software in
them so 911 can reach you. To preserve battery life, you may want to
turn that feature off for every day, but on if your ever nned to call
911.

Me I use my car charger religiously on the way to work and home, and
therefore am almost always fully charged.

Keep in mind the signal bars have no bearing on reality.
