Right now I am using a vx-7000 which feels a great deal more substantial than the 8300. I have also used a 8100 and a 4400 which both seem a lot more solid. Is it just me, or are the LG phones becoming increasingly flimsy. They are starting to feel like cheap toys even though the technology is clearly improving. Are you referring to the actual packaging/case/screen, etc.? I have only had mine a month and agree there is 'something' about the phone that I don't like but have not become familiar enough with it to put a handle on the feeling. I just expected so much more and took the earlier LG features to be standard on the newer models. Some examples(and I may need to both read the 'manual' more and/or gain more experience): Speakerphone thing is over-rated and is nowhere near a useful thing--at least in my car...unless I am stopped and my car is a new one that will not get any quieter... Connecting up the bluetooth ear gadget is at least cumbersome on the phone side. Some of the older phones had function keys that allowed you to bypass pressing an inordinate number of buttons to get to where you wanted to go...and when you get there, the default or item you land on usually is not the most common place I think I should be at. They turned off the feature that allowed me to use the damned thing as a modem...of course, I could give them $59 per month and use the net 4 or 5 times during that period of time.... The memory card is a great idea....'be nice if I could put some JPG's from the computer and be able to see them on the phone without conversion or whatever. Of course, if the phone were just a phone, then there would be no complaints....if their tower system did it's work. Other than that and the low cost of their service for my family's 5 phones, all is well. Saving grace is that I hear worse horror stories about the other carriers.... I just posted a question about that using the 8300 but you say it is not possible with the 8300? You are correct I fear, about the $59 fee per month. I wish VZW could realize we are not all filthy stinking rich!!! Gary I just purchased a 'data cable' from an ebay vendor that is supposed to do the deed. Hopefully it will. When I receive and test it, I will let you know. However, when I searched 'data cable vx8300' on ebay, I was brought to the correct site...which, according to the CD I received, is the dwoodsz.com site. Here is the search parameter I used on ebay-- 'data cable vx8300' --brought back a lot of them. Yep, it works! Now to get the bitpim working... I would not call it flimsy but probably average, just a sign of the disposability of modern electronics (which is unfortunate). Dave Is that the clip that VZW supplies with the phone or is it another? I had to revert to one of the kid's --I believe it is from a Samsung--belt clip as it seems to hold the phone more securly.
