I was just wondering if this is possible. My original phone got stolen
and my friend gave me this one to use until I can afford a phone.
Anyway i don't intend to use it for even text messages but just to
answer and make calls.

Please advise if i could do this with Verizon. Thanks

...and then after you get your fill of bias, opinion, rants and
misinformation here, call VZW and ask them ;-)

So they can give you some more misinformation.

I believe the company line is that they don't sell those without a data
plan. But as someone here already said... call 'em. Who knows? Maybe you'll
get lucky.

Call them and ask for a per-kilobyte data plan. Then don't use it.

Maybe that will work.
