Yesterday I stumbled across a Verizon web page that seemed to indicate
that I could get unlimited Broadband access, tethering my PDA/phone to
my laptop, for either $15 or $30 a month, compared to the $44.95 I'm
paying now (the "Pricing" selection at
http://solutions.vzwshop.com/bba/connect.htm).
I called Verizon, and after finally getting transferred to Wireless Data
Technical Support, I learned that this plan is simply a charge for
tethering, *in addition* to the unlimited data plan I have already.
Oops. No, sir, I don't currently tether my phone. No, that would be
wrong. No, no need to create a case in my record for this call. [Backing
slowly out of room, smiling obsequiously...]

The keybuzzword here is "access". You can get unlimited ACCESS. That
doesn't mean unlimited DATA, which Verizon thinks is 5GB/month. Read the
fine print buried in the legalese webpages.....
You can connect to it any ol' time....unlimited access....'long as you'ns
don' wanna DOWNLOAD while you'ns is ah accessin' it. Access means you can
look at webpages that disconnect when they load and git your email.....No
downloading, streaming, watchin' your girlfriend's webcam.....
No thanks. Got my new Skype phone, today....Dell Axim X51v. Freeware
TCPMP is playing KPIG's 128Kbps MP3 stream on my wifi as I type this.
Damn.....3AM and I'm still screwing around with COMPUTERS!....(c;
