We just came out with a new software upgrade for the LG VX8300 that
gives it several new abilities. The new software update adds support
for stereo Bluetooth, MP3, Adobe Flash Lite, and modem capability. This
is I believe only the 3rd phone the VZW offers right now with stereo
bluetooth. THe Chocolate and the KRZR were the first two to have this
ability.
Just take it into a VZW store and its free to upgrade to the new
software flash.

...and what features does it further limit and/or kill, if any?
I heard through the grapevine it enables 2GB MicroSD recognition, true?
Thanks!

Hi,
I've never had a software upgrade before, how long does this
take? 5 mins or so?
Thanks,
eb

Yes, once they get to you. Call ahead and make sure it's a
store with techs (and the cable) that can do the upgrade.
Not all stores have techs, and at the ones that do, some only
during certain hours.

It took me 45-60 min to have my VX8100 flashed when I had it done.
5 min to get your information entered and then you get to wait

You have to wait because of the long lines in customer service. The
upgrade itself shouldn't take more than a couple of minutes once they
start on it.

It depends on the phone. I am friendly with the tech at our local store
and some phones do take a lot longer. One phone I had took an actual 20
minutes to flash. I remember handing it to him and watching him connect
it and when I circled back 15 minutes later it was still being programmed.

Was he having to backup and restore your contact list?

I have already used a stereo bluetooth headset with the vx8300 and it worked
just fine (music in mp3 format). Not sure why that's being touted as a new
feature. Also, as I mentioned mp3s already supported after selecting
appropriate menu option.

If you don't mind me asking, what stereo bluetooth headset are you
using? The only ones I'm aware of are the ones that VZW will sell you
and the Motorola ones I see on ebay.

I have one, and I am trying to see if the phone is compatible with the
motorola MOTOROKR S9 bluetooth stereo headset. I read that the
software version needs to be newer and I need AVRCP (audio video remote
control profile). Will Verizon upgrade my software to where I can use
the two devices together?
