I have been trying to pair my new a-930 with my PC -- I set detection
on the phone, discover it on the PC -- phone asks do I want to pair, I
say yes and input the passkey generated on the PC (an MS dongle, if it
matters.)
PC sets up the ports and such, but then the connection is lost, and
never comes back.
I have booted the phone as well as toggling power to BT, but have not
booted the PC.
Any idea why I can't keep the connection? My BT mouse and KB go away
during this process, but come back (except this last time I tried to
add the phone as a device -- the KB still shows a connected but is
unresponsive...

The 930 supports a limited number of bluetooth services, specifically,
DUN, Audio gateway and another which escapes me. The question is what
service are you trying to use, or what do you wish to achieve after
having the two paired, maybe the service that you need is not available
on the phone. Next time around get a Sony Ericsson phone, the Z520A
that I dropped on the floor offers the full plethora of Bluetooth
services and a whole lot more.
