In some markets in the US, as well as in the country of Brazil, CDMA is
being dumped in favor of GSM. It would appear that while Verizon is
bidding for a CDMA contract in Iraq that CDMA may be a failing
communication system in other areas. Both Nokia and Siemens are joining
in the effort to establish GSM in areas where CDMA has been predominant.

It's absoultely rediculous, because GSM isn't the better system.
CDMA is, by far.
I think the major weight with GSM is that its been so standardized in the
rest of the world.

remember gsm is kinda new in the us, think when, if gsm ever gets major
coverage cdma will go the way of the betamax. It's clear what the
handset makers are behind, its clear what the wireless equipment
manufactures are behind too. Unless current gsm providers go cdma
route. No we dont have to be the same as the rest of the world in our
wireless laguage but in communications easy of use and coverage is the
name of the game.

You're likely a troll, but even if you aren't you aren't in touch with what
rural carriers are doing in the US regarding CDMA overlays.
