I know,I know this ? has been asked a million times, but I am in charge of the
cell phones for the Co. I work for, my boss wants to change to Nextel, we are
currently with Verizon, the reason he wants to switch is some of his friends
have Nextel service and he loves the direct connect, can anyone give me any
info. good or bad reference this change, since Verizon now has PTT. The problem
around here (Akron, Ohio) is they only offer one plan $59.00 plan. Any insight
will be much appreciated...Thanks

I'd play with PTT on VZW before switching.  It's still a new service,
and it may or may not meet the expectations your boss would have,
stacked up against Nextel.  I've never used it, so I don't know.

On the other hand, VZW's actual phone service is top notch, and the
network is generally much more widespread than Nextel's.  I'm also in
Akron, and the VZW Northern Ohio network is great...it reaches just
about everywhere, except perhaps Youngstown/Warren, which is Alltel.
VZW roams on them fine, and would be included in your minutes in
"America's Choice"...though PTT wouldn't work over there.

VZW's and Nextel's PTT networks are incompatible, so if he switched to
VZW, he would not be able to use PTT with the Nextel folks (and vice
versa).  The phones, of course, could call each other in regular voice
mode ;)

Who do you work for? Summit County, or one of the neighboring counties?

Your account should be a "corporate" account - find out if you have a specific
sales rep and talk to that person.
