Shutting down my Razr phone results in a noisy ad for Vcast. This is
undesirable when my reason for shutting down is that I'm in a meeting or
something where phone noise is frowned upon. Also, I could care less about
Vcast and really don't care to see the ads. My only choice, as far as I can
tell, is to shut off the master volume, then shut down.
Also, startup shows a different ad, also with noise, and takes forever.
Is there a way to get rid of the startup and shutdown ads and noise?

You go under MENU-SETTINGS & TOOLS-DISPLAY-WALLPAPER-Then find another wall
paper and screen saver other than the vcast wallpaper and then change to the
MY PIC's folder select the one you want, then OPTIONS and then press SET AS-
Wallpaper.
Presto you have gotten rid of that VCast wallpaper and sound.

The wallpaper doesn't affect the power-on and power-off Verizon ads and sound.

This is a Moto thing. I have a Motorola PEBL on T-Mo and the startup noise
is annoying, but it was even more annoying on my T-Mo V188 because that
phone has a startup AND shutdown thingy... the way to avoid the noises is
to put the phone on vibrate or silent...
Motorola phones seem to be particularly obnoxious in this respect...

It's all fun and games until someone starts a bonfire in the living room.

Thanks. I was setting the phone to silent until my wife accidentally forgot
to turn it back on and we missed a couple of important calls. I'm hoping
there's a better way.

Thanks. I've had different wallpaper and screen saver from day one. Doesn't
affect the shutdown and startup.

: Presto you have gotten rid of that VCast wallpaper and sound.
That one should have to do that shows the pitiful state to which our
civilization has sunk.

What's the purpose for these ads anyway, i mean we're all
VZW customers already.
They should limit such ads to the in store phones on display.

But you're not necessarily a VCast customer. You might be one of those
worthless freeloaders who thinks that your phone is for making phone calls.

Yep, that'd be me! ;-)
At least i can turn off the startup/shutdown sound on my vx8300, though
it would be nice to get rid of the graphics altogether so the phone
would boot up faster.

Ah, I was wondering why I didn't get any respect....<g>

May be, but finding it is close to impossible. If you have specific
information about my question, please point me in the right direction.

I found out by accident today that if you hold down the power-off button of your
Razr until you see an all-white screen, it shuts down silently. The V-cast
splash still occurs, but at least there's no sound.
Doesn't work on power-up, though... 8;(
