Cheapest way to add new line?

I want to get my mother on a Plan (and a phone) but I'm wondering what the
cheapest way might be?

I could get her an individual plan or I could switch to a family plan and
pay for her.

We both live in nearby cities in the Northeast, Boston area.

If my research is accurate, and I switch to the family plan, i'll have to
pay an additonal $30 per month above and beyond my current plan which is:

AMERICA'S CHOICE II 450 ANYTIME $39.99.

My mother will not be using the phone much and when she does it'll almost
always be to other Verizon members (me, my two brothers and father).

Any suggestions as to what the most affordable way to go is?

Two lines, $70 per month, 700 shared peak minutes.

Its on their website.

Primarily emergency use?

Cingular Prepaid is $25 for 100 minutes, renewing required every 3
months. If you beat the deadline, unused minutes roll over.

Visit your local Wally World for a phone.

I think he said plan AND phone. Probably to take advantage of the "in
network" calling.

But I agree, for an emergency phone, prepaid is the way to go.
