Daughter lost her phone. If a phone is off, can verizon turn it on
remotely to help me find it?

Don't think so--- and if little miss is old enough to have a cellie, she--
not you-- should be finding it....and paying for it if it can't be found.

Sure she is. she's supposed to be responsible if she's mature enough to
have her own phone.  She can give up allowance to buy the new phone or
help with housework, etc.

Geez, what witty comeback.  Are you raising your 10yr old to be as
stupid, obnoxious (look it up) and ignorant as yourself?

You're a joke and you don't even realize how funny your idiocy is to

Please respond with something else hysterically stupid, we're all

You must have grown up in an elitist home. Where I lived, allowances and
housework were not given and not paid for.  How much did your Daddy pay
the Nanny to wipe the shite off you a$$?

No, more like you're the nitwit.  Both for the replies and for giving a

Do you really not get that a 10 year old should not be having a cell phone?
And if you deem she needs to for some reason, that she should have some
responsibility and be held accountable?

Name-calling does not reflect well for you. Put more thought into what you
have to say.
RBM - 24 Jul 2007 01:08 GMT
Just my opinion: I agree with much of what you wrote, including my personal
opinion that a 10 year old for most situations has little to no need for a
cell phone. That being my opinion, none of my children had cell phones when
they were 10. What gives you the authority to determine that her 10 year old
or any other 10 year old but your own, "should not be having a cell phone"

I think we're on the same page here, so let's just try to clarify what I see
as may be a communication error between us, assuming your response is
directed at me, which it appears to be.

Particularly let's begin with "any other 10 year old but your own". as
quoted from your message, above. Where did I say that? My kids did not have
cell phones when they were 10. My statement was more general about all 10
year olds, my own included. And, it was qualified with this statement, "And
if you deem she needs to for some reason, that she should have some
responsibility and be held accountable", leaving it open in my judgement for
a parent to decide that their kid does need one.

Secondly, you're right, I have no "authority" to determine choices for other
people. But opinions were expressed here and that was mine. There is
sometimes a tendency for semantics to be inaccurate, but that is all that is
a case of. Judge the general content of what I say. Try not to nit-pick the
semantics.

Last, I was a teacher and a guidance counselor in a large urban school
system. I am currently a part owner of two children's day camps. I can tell
you with some authority that cell phones in the hands of kids in schools and
camps creates more problems than they can possibly solve. I'd like to show
you some of the ways kids are using their cell phones. You might be appalled
if you don't already know.

RBM - 25 Jul 2007 22:23 GMT
Again, while I agree with you philosophically, Your statement, "Do you
really not get that a 10 year old should not be having a cell phone?" Is
what I take exception to. We know nothing about this kid, including her age,
or the parent, or what conditions and responsibility she is already assuming
in regards to her cell phone. I'm merely giving the benefit of the doubt to
the parent, in the absence of any evidence to the contrary

My mistake, the kid is 10, and while I'm really trying to make the case for
responsible parental discretion, my observations are the same as yours

Thanks. I will.

Asswipe, I don't have a kid with a cell phone.

What kind of a f.cking idiot buys his 10 year old daughter a Cellular Phone?
Try spending time with your kid, before she's out of the house at age 14
with a
mattress strapped to her back.
Someone should shove that phone up YOUR a.s! Dipshit...a cellphone is not a
substitute for a "Parent", but simply a electronic leash for YOUR use.
Try supervising your kid,add her to YOUR life.A Cellphone is not guidance or
protection for a 10 year old.You need a size 11 shoe shoved up your a.s
BEFORE your child
is injured or learns what a poor/ignorant parent she has.
Grow up a.shole, and be a god damn father!!!

One that finds it useful.

A cellphone is just a tool.  What bug crawled up your backside?  I keep a
spare prepaid phone lying around and give it to my 9-year-old son when he
goes down to the nearby pond to fish.  It's a "just-in-case" sort of thing.

TVs, PCs,and GameBoys aren't "substitutes" either, but there's nothing
wrong in moderate use of them either.

Based on the two posts from the OP he hasn't shown himself to be an
irresponsible parent- in fact he plans to have her work off the cost of
the replacement.

> Grow up a.shole, and be a god damn father!!!

Somehow I think you're the one with the deep-seated father issues here,

Nice rant!! One problem. Ronbo never said his daughter was 10. For all you
know, she could be 40

Did she leave it over her boyfriends house when she slept there?

Likely she was drunk, and it fell out of her pocket somewhere in the
woods between the party and the gangbang.
