Can anyone recommend a good Motorola phone - basic functions, no frills.

Thanks.

The one with the least frills is the W315.

I would have also mentioned the V325, but VZW has recently
discontinued it. (I own a V325, works well for me)

My last Motorola phone, some years ago, was a disappointment.  It shattered
my image of the Motorola name.

Ericson worked great for years as long as I didn't drop them on concrete.

Now, I have a Kyocera from Verizon.  I had never heard of them before.  The
phone works OK.  It just has one "feature" I don't like.  They programmed it
so that if any of the side buttons is pressed during ringing, it mutes the
ringing.  When I am fishing the phone out of the holder I often accidentally
bump a button.  When I flip open the phone, I can't talk to the caller.
Even hitting the answer key doesn't seem to help.  The result is that with
one button bump my call rings (for the caller) until they get voicemail,
assuming they haven't hung up from the delay.  I can't find an option to
disable the side button feature.
