Bluetooth FTP client
Put that into Google and take your pick of which file transfer clients to
run on the laptop to talk to the Bluetooth PROFILE the phone supports.

Just because the phone PAIRS, doesn't mean it supports any file transfer
PROFILES that our good friends at Verizon Wireless may have disabled or
deleted from their firmware.  There are several PROFILES that support
file transfer....FTP, OBEX, SFTP, etc.

Windoze, of course in cooperation with commercial interests not
customers, doesn't support Bluetooth file transfers in its simpleton
Windows Explorer that can hardly keep up with the internal hard drives in
a Windows box.  Even the File Manager on my little Nokia N800 Linux
tablet notices there is an FTP profile with this strange cellphone when
the phone is paired with it.  In the list of folders and devices
BLUETOOTH shows up at the bottom.  Click that and W4CSC, my name for my
phone's BT connection, appears.  Click the W4CSC and all the folders
inside the phone, in both internal memory and the 2GB microSD card appear
so you can select them.  That's the way it's SUPPOSED to work, of course,
allowing you full access to ANY storage on ANY devices connected.  The
phone is a MotoROKR Z6M on Alltel with Alltel firmware.  I understand
flashing VZW's phones with Alltel's firmware opens many BT profiles and
features the phone was capable of when designed by the various
factories....before VZW disabled them.

Now that you have it paired, open the Bluetooth section of CONTROL PANEL
in the laptop WITH THE PHONE PAIRED AND CONNECTED.  The BT control panel
will tell you what profiles the phone says it supports.  Look for OBEX or
FTP in that list.  Probably FTP (file transfer protocol) is what you're
looking for.  If so, you simply need to add a BT FTP Client free from the
net to the laptop to overcome Windoze's limitations.  The client will
install what's needed for BT FTP or OBEX to work and you'll be in
business.  If you only see handsfree and/or stereo headsets, go burn your
local Verizon company headquarters to get even.  The phones DO support
it, naturally.

Another piece of advise, these damned Sellphones are pretty stupid and
very limited.  My MotoROKR is paired with a MotoROKR S9 stereo headset.
If the pairing is connected, the ROKR sellphone is incapable of
connecting to anything else.  You cannot listen to music from the phone
to the BT headset at the same time as my internet tablet is using the
phone as a modem.  Too stupid or too slow, not sure which.  The BT will
only connect to ONE device at a time....dammit, Motorola!

Give BitPim a try

http://www.bitpim.org/

I was able to backup my son's  9900 contacts, ringers, calendar and call
log. I'm a Mac user but I understand it's quite compatible with Windows
also. I believe you can export the backup of the calendar to Outlook. I
have also been able to upload ringtones from my vx8550 (which I backed
up with BitPim) to the 9900.

Good luck. Post again if you need help. Also, HowardForums is a great
resource.

From what I've read on Howard Forums, that's the way it works for
everyone, OK with cable but not with Bluetooth.

Interesting, since it's the reverse for me. I can't connect w/a cable
but BT works great. You may have to create a port setting - look at the
"software" postings, not phone-specific postings.

This may is Mac specific:

(quote from posting on HowardForums by "greyhouse")

1. First, on your phone, go to Settings & Tools and then select the 7th
option: Bluetooth.
2. Select Settings once in the Bluetooth menu.
3. Go to "Discovery Mode" and turn it On. Your phone will now be able to
be discovered by your PC for up to one minute.

4. On your Mac, go to System Preferences
5. Select Bluetooth under the Hardware section.
6. Under the "Settings" tab, make sure Bluetooth is On and it is set to
Discoverable.
7. Go to the "Devices" tab and then click the button that says "Set Up
New Device." This will walk you through pairing your mac and your phone.
8. After the device is paired, you will be able to see your phone listed
under Bluetooth Devices in the Devices tab.
9. Select your phone in the devices list and then click the "Edit Serial
Ports" button.
10. There should be two things listed: BT DIAG, and Bluetooth Modem.
Select the BT DIAG one and make sure the Port Type is set to RS-232 and
check the box next to "Require pairing for security."

11. Bluetooth has been configured so you may now launch Bitpim.
12. Go to the BitPim menu and select Preferences.
13. For the Phone Type, select LG-VX8300.
14. For the Com Port, select the Browse button next to the text input
box. A list of available ports will be shown on the window that pops up.
Look under the Available Ports section and you should see the serial
port you just setup. It should look something like this:

===== Available Ports ======
Serial (/dev/cu.BTPHONENAME-BTDIAG-1)
Serial (/dev/cu.BTPHONENAME-BluetoothM-2)
Modem (/dev/cu.modem)

15. Highlight the BTDIAG one and then hit the OK button at the bottom of
that window and the BitPim settings window.
16. You may now either hit the Get Phone Data button or go to the Data
menu and select "Get Phone Data." If you want to view the phones
filesystem, go to the View menu and select "View Filesystem."
