Is it possible to upgrade to a new phone on one of my five phones and
keep my America's choice plan?? I don't want to move to Nationwide.

I think the only way to change phones and not re-start a contract is to buy
your phone yourself and bring it to the network. This is what I plan to do
when my contract is over. I'll buy a phone on ebay and continue without a
contract.

Buying a new discounted phone puts you back on contract, but I
don't think it changes anything about your plan. I have a plan
they stopped offering last year, with promotions they haven't
offered since 2005, and nothing at all changed when I bought
a new phone from them.

I am currently on the America's choice II family plan and want to keep
it that way for future data phone plans and Navigator usage. We have
five lines with 1400 min a month and average 850 a month talk time. On
the America's choice plan the mobile web & Navigator time will be
charged as minutes and on the Nationwide plan it would be charged as MB
and would cost more. As a looooong time Vz customer I cant count the
number of times I have changed plans and came out ahead but this is the
first time I have been reluctant to change.
Data phones are the future and I will need to replace my Palm Pilot
soon and plan on buying a data phone that will cover both bases. I know
I will be at some point forced to move to the Nationwide plan.

Hopefully Vz will will change their pricing on Data plans

Buying a new phone does not change your plan, it just extends the old one.

It's been about two years since I did it, but I got two new phones on my
old and now unavailable plan, although I did have to go back under
contract for two years.

Thanks, for the reply and information. I try to be as informed as
possible when dealing for new phones and with my plan. I have found the
over the phone customer service to be very helpful but I have to have my
game face on and both pistols drawn when dealing at the VZW store.

I was contacted by Verizon this week. They asked me if it was OK to move me
over to the Nationwide plan. I reluctantly agreed based on that they told me
there would be no changes to my cost or my access. Perhaps, as often is the
case, the telephone person was wrong.

In any case, they told me that they were eventually moving everyone over to
Nationwide and that in a short time to come there would be no choice given.
Again, I can't speak for the accuracy of that statement, but if that person
was correct, your problem may become moot.

Are you sure you were contacted by verizon and not some telemarketing
company? In seven years with Verizon I have never been contacted by
them.
