Hello all,
new to this ng.
Just got off of online chat w/ verizon wireless and they seem to think the
only way to transfer my outlook contacts on  my pc to my env phone is via
their wireless sync and the $$ subscription fee.  Is there ANY other way to
do this?  Has anyone done it any other way??

thanks in advance,
+r

Welcome to the wonderful world of Verizon Wireless!  They simply are not
interested in anything they can't charge you for.  Even if your phone,
as manufactured, is capable of transferring your contact information
via; e.g. a USB cable, they are quite likely to have blocked, disabled,
or removed the feature.  The buck or two they will collect for
transferring this data over the air, multiplied by a few million
customers, works out to real money.  They are not going to let you have
any alternatives that you don't pay them for!!

Next time, try a different service provider if you can.  And do your
homework FIRST!  Not all businesses display this sort of all out greed!

same here - tried the VZ Contact Backuyp - which is good, but manually
entered.

With some other services,
their Contact Backup also has an "export" and "import"
so PC files can be used to save or load your contacts.....

But not on VZ - their backup application is just that - a backup -

I used the backup assistant and transferred all contacts to my new phone.
You have to put the backup assistant on your phone that has all the
contacts, then put it on the new phone.

yeah - but the question is how to get contacts from the PC - ala Microsoft
Outlook -
on to the Backup Assistant - ala "import" -
Can't be done...
you have to manually type EVERY contact onto the web page.

Take a hard look at BitPim. It's free and it works. You can import
contacts (and other data) from your PC into BitPim and from there into
your phone if it is supported and I /think? the Env is...my LG 9800 or
"V" as VZW calls it, is supported.

It's free or you can donate.
