Weird problem with new LG VX 10

My daughter just opened a new account with Verizon Wireless getting
the LG VX 10. When we call her from our home landline number (Boston
area, 617-268-xxxx),  she receives the call but all she hears is loud
static, while we can hear her fine. Now the weird part...if she calls
this same number, the call is fine, it just happens on the incoming
calls. She has no problem with calls from our cells, and also with
another landline we tried.

Verizon has given her another Vx-10 but it still happens. Now they say
that it's got to be a problem with the landline and to call for
service (also Verizon).

Has anyone ever heard of a problem like this? We've had this landline
for over 20 years without problems. Calling other verizon wireless
customers, At&T, Cingular, online services, DSL, never a problem. It
makes no sense to me. Especially where she can call this number
without problem. Any help on this is greatly appreciated.

Hi Barry,

I also just signed up (roughly 2 weeks ago) and got the VX10.  I live in
Mass as well (508 area code), and I do not have this problem.  One thing
she could try (although admittedly I have no idea if this would have
anything to do with it) would be to update the PRL by dialing *228 and
then selecting "2" from the menu.

Other than that I'm not sure what else could cause it, maybe some other
folks here would have some better suggestions.  If you wanted to
experiment I could send you my # in private mail.

HTH.

In some countries, what I did would be considered polite,
especially Fartland.

I had a weird problem once similar to this, but not this weird. They changed
my phone number, and the problem went away. Request a new phone number.

It sounds like a network problem.  Verizon network engineers and
Verizon Wireless network engineers will have to talk.
