I just bought 2 LG6000's for my wife and I a month ago. They have worked
great since today, when mine started getting awful signal strengh and many
dropped calls. I put the two phones in the same room and her's is full
strength. This is really frustrating.
Does anyone have any idea of how to handle this? I'm in NYC. Will I be able
to get a refurbished one, and are they any good? Also, will I be able to
transfer my data to the refurbished or new one? How difficult will it be
overall to deal with Verizon on this?
Ugh, this is annoying.

Your phone is probably done. I have been through this many times. Call *611
and tell them the situation. Tell them that you have two identical phones,
have put them side by side, and one is not the least bit functional.
The rep will ask you questions. Tell them exactly what you wrote here. Then,
ask them how to iniatiate a 'rapid exchange.'
It's exceptionally simple. Really, much easier than one would expect. Your
replacement phone will arrive via two-day FedEx. Place the old phone in the
box, write your mobile # on the outside of the package, attach included
return shipping label and drop the box off. It costs you nothing.
As for the phonebook and stuff, well, I don't really know what to tell you.
Refurbished units any good? For the most part. However, I've been through
four phones in sixteen months. I suspect that the particular model of phone
is to blame.

How about actually going into the store where you bought them and have it
looked at? If store has a service center, they may be able to transfer any
data over to a replacement that you may be given.

I am a tech in the San Antonio Area and i do know that early models of
the vx6000 were having minimal or no service issues. You can go to you
local Verizon and let them know you issues with your handset and they
should replace in under warranty...
