I notice that Verizon has changed its phone selection and reduced a
few prices on verizonwireless.com .  Presumably this pricing will
follow in their stores also.

I notice, for one, that the Nokia 3589i I am planning to get went down
from $99.95 one year/$49.95 two year to $79.99 one year/$29.99 two
year.  I also noticed the old Motorola 120t (their entry-level phone)
is gone.  Probably other changes that I didn't notice...

Is this just new holiday pricing or a first reaction to LNP?

In the LA market they are giving the Nokia away w/ the purchase of a 6000
for $159.00 w/ $50 rebate.

Phone prices generally only go down. Whether a modest $20 reduction is
due to WLNP, the holiday season, or just a stage in the life cycle of a
given phone model is hard to tell.

Turns out it was a 3-day holiday sale, Fri-Sun, or so I was told.  I
went over to the Verizon Wireless store and got a Nokia 3589i and new
service (America's Choice 400).  I tried Verizon for all of one day
last summer; the cheap Moto phone I tried (120t?) had crappy reception
in my house, so I took it back.  This Nokia does not register great
signal in the house, either, but you would not notice from the great
audio quality, even with only 1-2 bars of signal.  Much better than
the choppy Moto phone, and far better than my Nokia 5160I/AT&T TDMA
phone is inside.

I did not port my AT&T number yet - I'll do that next week, now that
I'm satisfied with the reception of this phone and service.
