Something has happened to my charger port.  I have to push the charger
connection together and hold it there for the phone to acknowlege that the
charger is plugged in.

Needless to say, that's less than efficient!

I've cleaned the contacts, and tried it with 3 different chargers.

Verizon store reps tell me that they can't fix the phone (even though this
particular phone is one that they gave me less than a month ago to fix a
problem I was having with the prior phone).

So... what are my options?  It seems to me that if I've had this one for
less than a month, there should be some sort of service that Verizon can
do to fix it.  Simply purchasing a replacement seems like an extreme
option, and I can't help feeling that they just say that because they'd
either rather have the sale, or they just don't want to be bothered with
arranging a repair.

Ideas?  Comments?

You could get on their insurance plan ... the expensive one and then
wait one month (can you wait that long?).  Then make a claim that it is
failing and they should swap it out for a new [refurbished option].
Perhaps not a perfect solution, but one that may work.

I once had a problem with an out of warantee v60i. Tech support at the
store let me purchase a reburbished one for $50.

You might try askin if you are willing to spend the money.

Well, it's a work phone and they are looking here at replacing all of the
office phones with new LG VX4400s, so I'm just going to "hang tight" for a
few days and see how that pans out.

Still pisses me off that the "new" replacement phone failed in less than a
month.  Doesn't seem fair that they are not willing to replace it again as
it is clearly defective.

The charging connection sucks on the new generation of Motorola phones.

Have you bought a can of spray contact cleaner? Spray it sparingly on the
contacts of the phone (so it doesn't get up inside the phone). Try cleaning
with a stiff fiber brush and some alcohol. Remove the battery and gently
scrape the charging contacts on the bottom of the phone with an Exacto
knife.

I've been in the same situation with having to hold the charger plug in a
certain position to get it to charge (270C).

Unless you've broken the hole on the phone where the metal latch on the
charger plug goes into, you should be able to get it to work again. Keep
trying.

I keep a spray can of contact cleaner in my car now.

The problem was where the contacts on the back of the connector are
soldered down to the main circuit board of the phone.  Some judicious
applications of heat from a sharp tip of a soldering iron, and I've got
good connections with the charger again and all is well.

I figured I had nothing to lose, since the phone already wasn't charging.

If anyone has to do this for themselves: A T-6 driver, a magnifying glass,
some bright light and a small clamp to hold things in place are essential
equipment.  Nice to have the otherwise-great V60 back in service!

How much do you charge?  In case mine stops charging and I have to
send it to you for repair? :)

Yikes!  Was scary enough doing it for myself.. not sure I want to market
such a service - just wanted to mention that it was "do-able".

Did they say why?  (Phones are under warrantee for 30 days.)
