A local call center is here in Topeka ,Ks is Closing. Verizon was one of
their largest customers and the locals have been getting mixed messages
as to the Real reason the call center is closing. The part of the story
that caught my eye is the part about the outsourcing to India , Canada
and the Phillipines.I have always had good luck with VZ customer service
and it has been one of the strong selling points for me.
After fighting with Unintelligible Indian techs for my Dell computer I
don't look forward to it with VZ.

VZ, or VZ Wireless?

If you are talking about VZW, the Topeka call center is an
outsourcer anyway, working for the Northeast region, but I haven't heard of
any of our centers, outsourcers or not, closing here in the US, and have
most definitely have not heard of any of our customer service being
outsourced to India.  The landline may do that, as they are all union and it
really would be a lot cheaper, but nothing on the wireless side is going
that way to my knowledge, especially after the excellent year we had in
2003!
