Hi,

I heard a rumor that as a deafult, new subscribers to VZW can now enjoy the
speed of express network through their phones by just consuming the airtime
(no need to buy an additional data plan.)  Is this rumor really true ?

And if I'm a old user, is there anyway that I can use it as well ?
(currently, I can just get 14.4kbps speed to the internet through my vx4400.
I tried to dial the express netowork but still couldn't get through as I
expected since I only have AC400 with my phone.. )

Thanks.

I and a bunch of my friends all had it added automatically on *NEW* AMERICAS
CHOICE plans. It is not added automatically to older plans, may not be
available on older plans, and may not automatically be added to new plans
depending on your location.

My friend had an old singlerate northwest plan he wanted to renew, but had
to change plans to AC to be add it as a feature.

Not according to the rep I spoke to last week...  He said while I can
connect to the express (and I use the term loosely) network, I should be
charged and could see an inflated bill if they catch on..

I like your info better, hope it is true.

How exactly do you go about connecting to the express network? Is there a
number you dial? Or, if you use the dataport kit, does an internet
connection magically appear via USB cable, a la DSL through a Westell
WireSpeed modem?

And... if this is all correct, if you're on a night/weekends free plan,
would this mean basically unlimited surfing during those times?

You dial #777 and log in with username: yourphonenumber@vzw3g.com,
password: vzw. You might have to change your modem init strings to force
it into 3G mode.

Yup.

I've had NA MOU on my account for several months, and never been charged
for it. I wonder if they can tell the difference between people who use
NA MOU for Mobile Web/Get It Now, and people who use it with their PCs?

HI,

How did you get the NA MOU ?  Is it something I will automatically acquire
after I sign up for the Mobile Web service now ?

The cheapest Mobile Web 100 Alerts is just $6.95.  If signing up it will let
me connect my laptop to internet with express network speed, I'd like to
consider it seriously.

Thanks.

No, Mobile Web is something else. Just call up customer service and tell
them you want the feature added to your account that'll use your
America's Choice minutes for National Access. You do not want a National
Access plan, you just want a feature added to your America's Choice plan
(if it isn't there already).

It won't. Mobile Web only lets you use the browser on your phone and
gives you a text message allowance.

What software version do you have in your phone? Menu, 9, 2, and if it says
anything other than TE4VZV10, take it to the store (a real VZW store, not a
dealer) and have them update it. Then, before you leave the store, try to
use GIN. If you are able to connect and you get a double arrow symbol at
the top of the display (it will blink off occasionally), you should be all
set for Internet. If GIN doesn't work, complain and don't leave the store
until they fix it (which will involve adding National Access MOU to your
account). Don't tell them you want to use it for Internet or they will tell
you you have to get a data plan.

Myself and many friends have been given Express Network (NA) for MOU last
summer.  We all have SingleRate plans as we are full-time RVers and need
national coverage without roaming charges.  I use the Verizon Mobile Office
software and the connection for Express Network is already on there so I didn't
need to set anything up.  My phone is 1X compatible.  With the 2nd edition of
Venturi compression software running and the speed of the NA, I am connecting
at twice the speed of the best land-line.

If the Verizon rep you get on the phone won't give you the upgrade for MOU
only.  Hang up and dial another one.  Make sure you get the rep's name (they
don't have last names) the location of the call center and the rep's extention.
Write them down so you have a backup if the bill is wrong.
