It would nice if I could store e-mail messages that I view through
verizon's web browser (yahoo mail). This way I could e-mail my
calendar or something like a shopping list to yahoo (either manually
or automatically) and then download detailed text to my phone and use
it like a PDA.
This way anytime I would want to view content I wouldnt be using my
airtime minutes. Are there any verizon phones that will store
downloaded web content?
Or better yet does verizon offer text messaging with more than 160
characters?

Well... you can do pretty much whatever you want with a
PDA phone.  To do what you describe on my 7135 I could
save the web page with the desired message for offline viewing
in my browser, I could cut and past the desired text into a memo,
or (if I had pop3 mail) I could simply retrieve my mail with the
email application and view the message at any time after.
