"Searching for Service" after getting wet

I have three-month old LG VX6000 phone which took a bath. I turned it
off, removed the battery, and let it dry for 24 hours.

The phone will come and everything works, but it won't connect to the
network. It just says "Searching for Service." My wife took it to a
Verizon store and they took it apart and tried a few things, but no
go. I don't have a service agreement. A replacement is going to cost
over $200.

Is there any hope for fixing this phone?

What did they say was wrong with it?

They didn't, really. Based on something someone else told me, I'm
thinking it's a problem with the antenna. Does anyone know of a
skilled cell phone repair shop?

I have heard of people taking apart their phones piece by piece and drying
every part. The thing is that there may be some water where the antenna
normally connects. That could be the issue.

Though unless you have experience taking small things apart you shouldn't
bother, but then again it's busted already.

Good Luck,
Nite Rider
