Just received my July 03 VZW statement with detailed charges & calling
info - nothing like EN or MOU showing up.
EN calls which I've used almost exclusively using Unlimited Nights &
Weekends minutes are simply listed as 777 (Data Call) - same as my VZW
Mobile Web calls, with duration of call or connection shown - using the
A310. This is great!
Should VZW make a policy change and/or try to charge us extra for using
EN to surf, then I can simply cancel the feature & go back to QNC speed
of 14.4 - which I don't think VZW will do.
As for EN speed, it's easy to see your average speed & max or peak speed
if you are using the VZW Dialer to connect, just open the Tools menu &
look under Session Statistics to see your upload & download speed. Many
factors are at play here, but I've gotten 40 to 60K but seen burst of up
to 120 K, but also slower speed of 20 to 40K when it's busy - certainly
a lot better than ONC and better than analog dial-up at home.
With my IBM notebook, USB cable & A310, my mobile office on wheels is
"in business" and I can take it anywhere with me & stay updated with
email & the net.
Now, if I can only get someone to drive me to work while I surf in the
passenger or backseat, iced cold coffee in the cup holder - I'll be all
set!
