Anyone know if the RL2000 is any good?  I've had a somewhat ruggedized
phone in the past and enjoyed it a lot.  It went swimming twice (oops)
and recovered both times.  Been dropped, kicked, thrown and used as a
small hammer.  It looks decent and the specs sound alright.  Hows the
data connector?  RF decent?  Sound quality/volume?  Speakerphone?

I'm looking to activate it on Verizon.  Could I buy this phone with cash
unactivated, and unlocked?  Would it work properly (#777 ExpressNet,
regular 14.4k modem dial-out, phonebook, maybe the ptt function (later
on, vzw's p2p plans suck, and I don't know anybody else with it), *228
programming (at least PRL).  Don't really care about games and ringers,
so GetItNow is not really important.  Could I download apps via data cable?

Also does this phone support two 'NAM's?  I often find need to lock my
phone onto an SID that isn't listed with high priority in the PRL.

Does anyone have the USB Data/Charging cable?  Any good?

Thanks,
JS

Unactivated, yes; unlocked, no, you'd have to social-engineer the Master
Subsidy Lock code from someone at Sprint. Data would probably not work. I
don't even know if the Vision phones do the slower data speeds.

Not GetItNow apps; only VZW and Alltel use BREW, the technology behind GIN.
Sprint and the other carriers use Java2 Mobile Edition. You *could* download
J2ME apps if you can make a data connection, which is iffy.

Also, don't expect to get any support from any carrier other than Sprint
for a Sanyo phone, as no one else sells Sanyo; they have an exclusive US
deal with Sprint.
