Perhaps someone can help.....
Backround: I have VZW with a newer Nokia 5185i. This one has the newer
Firmware (V. 616SD1c7.nef 7/15/2002 ERI:1), that, among other things,
shows full date on standby screen, allows "Analog Only" selection in
SYS menu, allows Downloadable Ringtones (it works!!), & has ERI
Capability.
Here is what I need to know, in order of importance:
1 - Doing a *228 ( 1 or 2) only downloads whatever the current non-ERI
(50084) PRL is. I understand that in some markets, people with "ERI:1"
5185 & 3285's, like mine, are getting the correct 50085, & the ERI
works. a dozen calls to cust svc & supervisors are No help, they have
no clue & just tell me to go to a VZW store. Even if the store can
load the ERI PRL, I don't want to have to go to a store instead of
doing a *228 each time..... Anyone know how to get the 'system to
recognize this ERI firmware version, without another useless call to
Cust Svc??
2 - In the Programming menus, there is a selection for "CDMA
Settings". Two of the choices are for "Preferred System ID's" &
"Excluded Systems". These 80 or so input fields are blank. If I wanted
to add a SYS ID not in the PRL, would putting it here actually do
anything (good or bad), & if so, how would this input effect the PRL,
& is there any Other way to edit/add to the PRL thru the Keypad??
.... I tried, "for the heck of it", changeing the Home SYS ID from NY
VZW (22) to Sprint NYC, just to see if I could "force" the phone to
lock onto SPCS (not in the current PRL), & even though I tried both
"Home Only" & AutoB, It still went to VZW, which would seem to
indicate the PRL even overrides the Home SYS ID(?).
3 - Last (& least important) , doing a *#VER# to Bring up the Firmware
& PRL versions info, also displays "PRI: " followed by 8 digits ....
anyone know what that is? Thanks!!

Do you have a calling plan which implements ERI? That'd be AC, or possibly
some of the local plans; NSR shouldn't require it.
