I've been trying ever since I got my VX 6100 a couple weeks ago to get the
firmware updated.  I've tried stores in the Nashville area and 50 miles away
from there but, none of them are able to do it.  They say that they've
submitted a ticket with Verizon but, even though a ticket has been submitted
for a couple weeks they are still unable to update the firmware.  Can anyone
here tell me why this is so difficult?

Are they technically capable of the update?  That is, do they have the
equipment there to do updates?  I had to drive 90 miles to the nearest
store capable of doing updates to get mine done.  If the store doesn't
have the equipment then they can't perform the updates.  If they can
update other phones then there should be no reason they can't do the VX6100.

No, the stores I have gone to are "real" Verizon Wirelesss stores that have
in house technicians.  They are saying there is some problem with the update
or the update delivery system that they use to get the firmware update.  The
last time I went to a Verizon store they actually hooked my phone up to
their computer and cable and said it still was not working.
