LG 4400 rebooting?

First my 4400 was just shutting down - no reason - just sometimes I
would pick it up and it would be as if I'd turned it off.

3 hours at repair - software update, and the purchase of a new battery
(it was old and I did notice it wasn't lasting as long in conversation)
so that made sense.

But now, new battery, properly charged - suddenly I look up and the
phone is shutting down and restarting.

Any ideas?

TIA

It can do that if the charging circuitry is confused.  It can
also do it if the internal filesystem is full or otherwise
cluttered in junk.  I would suggest deleting all of your
contacts, SMS, calendar, images and ringtones and then
rebooting and putting them back one type at a time.

More likely, it can do that if the battery contacts are
loose or dirty. Carefully clean the contacts on both the
phone and the battery with a pencil eraser. Then make
sure that the contacts on the phone are not squashed
or stuck in.

I'm sure that's the problem.  I brought it in for repair and was told I
needed a new battery and a software upgrade, both of which I got.  I
told them I thought the contacts were faulty - but - they have their
protocols :-)

Might I spray a little canned air onto the phone contacts?  I have
already tried cleaning them and I do have a new battery.

I also have no ringtones, no text messages, no browsing stuff, nothing
much except a phone and my contacts.

Am I looking at a Samsung a650?

Doubtful that canned air would do anything. Most often
contact problems are caused by a very thin film of dirt
or oxidation. Often it's not really visible.

How do you reboot a 4400?

4400s are known for restarting if they receive a call while lying flat on a
metal surface. The only fix I know of is not to put it like that.

I asked about it here when I saw mine do it and was directed to a vx4400
Yahoo group, where this is well-documented.

Saw this quite often with my LG 4500. Software upgrades didn't help.
When I had another problem that required replacing it with another,
brand new, 4500, the problem was gone.
