Hi All...new to this forum and was reading a few prior posts abou
extended network and was wondering if anyone has any input on m
problems.

Here's our situation:  2 phones on family plan.  One Motorola 710 (Min
in minneapolis), one nokia 3589 (girlfriends in Big Rapids, Michigan).

I can text message from mine to hers with no problem, but she canno
text to me (when she tries it says "message not sent").  She is i
extended network 30 miles north of a verizon network area.  Both o
these phones were originally programmed in Minneapolis, and the 358
used to be able to text message during Christmas (because it used to b
my phone).   I think the problem lies in the fact that the 3589 wa
recently reprogrammed in Michigan via *228 when I changed a rate pla
(because thats what the CS rep said to do to both phones).   The reaso
I think that is because when I was in Michigan this weekend, her phon
sitting right next to mine in the extended network was reading "verizo
wireless" and mine was saying "extended network".  I didnt reall
realize that until just a little while ago, but I remember thinking i
was strange.

Anyways, we had spoken to tech support a few weeks back and they sai
the phone needed to have the software updated and to take it to
store...So we tried that this weekend while I was visiting and they ha
no software so I figured I'd bite the bullet and pay full price for
motorola 265 thinking it would take care of our situation...nope, stil
same old story.  So I took it back and reactivated the 3589

I'm thinking this has to do with the new "no roaming charges" plan, an
they are not allowing text messages on extended networks since i
probably costs them money to send them, I'd assume.  Thats just pur
speculation on my part though

Anyways, does anyone think that if I get the 3589 back to Minneapolis
and *228 it here, then send it back to Michigan, it is going to operat
in a similar fashion as my motorola 710 did while I was there?  I thin
it will..

Anyways, just looking for some input...Thanks in advance for an
help..

I had a v265 and I couldn't text message from it. I could receive but not
send. So I got a lg 7000 and did the *228 #1 and #2 and could send/receive
with no problems. But unfortunately had to send it back because verizon
doesn't have a local telephone exchange for cell phones.
