Does anyone else have this experience?  Sent in the form for the LG
rebate and they sent me a letter indicating they never received the UPC
code.  Well, it was definitely in there but I was in a rush and could
not make a copy.  Now I can't get the rebate.  This is BS!!!!!!!!
Companies typically make it very, very difficult to redeam rebates.

Learned the hard way on a $50 rebate from Best Buy. I now make copies of
everything :)

I treat Best Buy differently.  I pull in a manager and simply inform him
I'm willing to pay this price you have marked at this time.  I'm 5 for 6
purchases doing this.  They CAN bypass the rebate game at the register
with the manager's key...

I simply tell them I don't play the "Rebate Game" any more, having
gotten screwed many times in the past.....

You seriously do that?  I would never have thought to do something like that
but it sounds pretty cool.  What did the manager do the first time you did
this?  Did they look at you like you had 2 heads?  What exactly do you say
to them?  Think it would work at other stores?

LOL, no I'm not.  Really, I just never thought to do that with a rebate.
Don't know why but I never thought a store would do that.

Well if you don't believe that you are almost surely going
to hear about how Larry shoved that lemon of a Skidoo
down that dealer's throat... -:)

Oh... Larry's claim goes like this if you want to try at
your local chain store.

Walk into store and demand to see the manager (have
some rebate item already in mind).

Do this in a very loud voice so that as many customers
as possible notice you. (Be sure to ask for a chair to sit
in while you wait -- same loud voice -- tell them that you
know they have chairs for the employees in the back room.

If you don't get laughed or escorted out of the store and
actually get to speak to a manager tell him in no uncertain
terms (loudly enough that everyone in the store can hear)
that "I DON'T do rebates. I know that you can do a price
override. Have one of these young punks run for my item
so I can give you the rebate price and be on my way.

This is guaranteed to work every time. If by some chance
it doesn't work right away come back here and consult
"Larry on the law" to join the rebate class action suit
brought by Larrys everywhere and Dr. News (they have
one state Attorney General on board already).

Well, then I guess I'm not as dumb as you think I am.  If I didn't even
think of doing something like that, then I'm not stupid enough to try.
Maybe that other guy is.

Then you are new here. Apparently you're not familiar
with "that other guy", Larry.

Bullshit a.shole troll as usual.  I never demanded to see anyone...even
from Verizon a.sholes.  I asked the sales teenager if he would take this
price.  He was not at a level to make that decision so I asked him to
find me a manager who was at that level.  I'm never forced to buy
electronic toys.  The reason I'm typing on a new Best Buy E-machine beast
is price.  I got the E-machine t-6520 for $549 with no games.  I'd have
bought the T6524 for $617 if that had been the REAL price, not the $999
and wait weeks and weeks for 4 or 5 rebates begging on some goddamned 800
number when they didn't arrive.  $549 was a competitive price with
internet websites for a comparibly-equipped Athalon 64 machine.  The only
real advantage to buying locally is the Magnusson-Moss Warranty
Protection Act allows me to return the defective unit to its dealer,
instead of its manufacturer IF that dealer is within 2 miles of my home.
I live 1.4 miles from Best Buy making them responsible under the act.

So, I, not "them", made the decision to buy from the brick and mortar
store rather than the remote dealer with only a slightly better price
point.  Call it an "informed consumer" decision.

(Be informed Quick follows any posting of my with his acid rebuttal and
has for a long time.)

oops, let me quote you from earlier in the thread...

"I treat Best Buy differently.  I pull in a manager and simply inform him

I, as others, used to support/tolerate you because you actually
contributed some good stuff on antennas. Then you went off
the deep end with nothing but bs for at least a year now. Your
last post of any interest at all was your recount of moving
someone's sail boat up the coast.

I simply say that I'm offering the price marked, in cash, to the store
for the purchase of the item offered at that price.  I'm not offering to
loan Best Buy, or anyone else, an extra 200 dollars to hold onto for
weeks or months as a condition to this purchase.  I, then, leave it up to
them whether they want the business or whether I go buy it from the
internet cheaper, anyways.

The BUYER, in my case, is always in control.  Best buy has nothing I
absolutely MUST have to survive living on the surface of the planet.
Everything in the store is a luxury item I can live without.

Now faced with taking the bait or losing the sale against his month
gross, it's up to him to figure out which path is best for the company.
Either way is fine with me....(c;

First call the rebate outfit and tell them they are wrong (be forceful).
If that does not work call or visit the place where you bought the item and
complain to them.
YMMV but I have always gotten the money.
