Thinking of switching to VW and am looking for recommendations on a new
VW phone. I want tri-mode, NO camera (work restriction), speakerphone,
reliability and good signal strength/reception. I don't care about
internet, data or bluetooth. Suggestions?

Do you live anywhere near a Verizon store?
If so, it would behoove you to take a trip.
While you may get great opinions on what *other* people like,
nothing beats feeling the phone in *your* hand, determining
if the menus are to *your* liking, whether the keys are too
big/small, etc.
Good Luck!

I do plan on going to a VW store but that won't help me with the
reliability and signal questions.

You're absolutely right.
I didn't mean to suggest the store, in lieu of opinions, but,
rather, in addition to.

The last good trimode w/ Analog and without a camera that had the best
signal was a Moto V60s. Your best choice now is an LG Vx3300 if you want
analog or an LG VX4650. You can also look at a Kyocera KX1v (trimode
digital) I'm not an LG fan, but the truth is, your choices are limited
since most phones now have cameras.
A new V60s can be found on eBay for about $80. With that, you wont need to
sign a contract with Verizon.

The more I think about it a dual band (I'm assuming that means no
analog) might not be so bad. Most places I go in AZ appear to have
digital coverage nowadays so the lack of analog probably isn't that big
of a deal.

First, have a look at http://www.phonescoop.com/glossary/term.php?gid=135.
If business/pleasure never takes you away from those areas, then the lack
of analog probably won't be missed.
For me, it's been a Godsend!

I just got an LG VX4650 (non PTT version of VX4700). All of the features I
cared about, tri-mode, and no camera. Fabulous speakerphone. Very happy so
far. Got rid of a Kyocera which had nice reception but developed several
aggravating problems over two years use.
