But the wired groups are on verizon's news servers. The OP is a road
runner subscriber. He probably doesn't know that he needs the secret
handshake to get into 0.verizon.fios

Only "wired" group my searcher found was alt.wired and I am on vz

Do a search with 'verizon' as the search term and you should find at least 9
of them...And 4 more with the term 'alt' added..

22 with Verizon. 21 with 0.verizon (vz only) and this group.
I do not see anything about vz wired phones.
