The Cingular accounting system for this customer who has
"migrated" from AT&T is a disaster. I'm so frustrated by
Cingular that I'm thinking of breaking the new Cingular
contract and switching to Verizon. Should I switch my phone
numbers at a Verizon store, by a phone call, or on line?

I think you'll find the most capable folks on the phone at Verizon.

Ported 2 numbers in the last 2 years without a hitch.

Now that's ironic.  A couple years ago, I had to dump Verizon in favor of
Cingular, as Verizon was driving me insane with outrageous billing errors.
Unfortunately, I moved into an area where Cingular's coverage is not quite
good enough to be useful to me.  But in Verizon's defense, since I switched
back to Verizon, they have not (yet?) made any billing errors on my
ccount.  -Dave

outrageous billing errors explain. I have had none of these problems been
with verizon for 8 years.

They make them, believe me.  "Honest mistakes" that somehow always
favor the company... like the "honest mistakes" grocery stores make
with their price scanners.

You would be surprised how many mistakes at stores are actually in the
customer's favor.  Would you tell the store if it scanned too low a price???

Lou
I eat my peas with honey.
I've done it all my life.
It makes the peas taste funny.
But it keeps them on my knife.

At Costco, if you have one where you are, and are a member.

Remember to get a tri-mode phone, not all-digital.
