I was stunned when my new Samsung A970 showed up with LG software. WTF? If I
wanted an LG I would have bought an LG. I buy Samsung because I like the
user friendliness and functionality of their software. When I inquired I was
told that LG software now comes on ALL Verizon phones.
No matter if you like the software or not, it's CRAPPY that they are taking
yet another choice away from us.

I can't believe that a Motorola phone will come with LG software. Just won't
happen.

All of Verizon's phones now come with the same, identical LG software.
Verizon now calls it "Verizon software" but it's LG. Anyone who has owned an
LG phone made in the last two years will recognize it.

Ummm, that's just the GUI right? Underlying code is per
manufacturer.

Does the Motorola V325 have this new user interface?

Thank you for a completely useless and worthless response.

Hardly useless...if you don't like what you purchased take it
back...simple as that!

His response is to the point. Your posting was moronic. If you don't like
it and it is "crappy" return it and move on troll.

Calm down Joe. Most all cell phone software is written in a backroom in
Bangalore by the same bunch of subcontractors anyway;-)

It's to unify tech support. They can't effectively support the entire
line if every phone comes with different software.

We've got the VX5200. The software in it isn't that bad. I wish there was
direct access to the pictures area through some menu item. It is, after
all, a CAMERA phone. Other than that, the software is good. -Dave

It's actually not LG software, it's the new GUI VZW will be putting on all
their new phones.
They just started with the LG8100, that's all.

What, if anything, can one do to load mfg stuff?

If it all started with the LG VX8100, does that mean that all Verizon phones
(with the new UI) have that annoying "missed call" siren........even on
silent (restricted if you so choose) calls? Incidentally, anyone with an
8100......did that missed call alert get corrected with a software update?
I had that phone for about 2 days and couldn't stand that feature and, at
the time, there was no way of turning it off.
Thanks.

You may be right about that. I still wish I could have the Samsung GUI. I
liked it much better.

AFAIK, Cingular phones are the same way. Same icon set
on all phones. Makes it easier on the techs when it comes to
solving issues.
As to the VZW UI. There is that and then an UNDERLYING firmware
individual to each series and model.

The LG8000 had the same interface. I like it.

Who cares?
The a970 is a kick'n phone!
No cell phone on sale for VW has battery performance equal to the a970.
What I want to know is about the signal, since the antenna is completely
inside the shell.
