What happens to old phone when you upgrade?

Hi. I'm contemplating upgrading to a PocketPC/cell hybrid (Samsung, Treo
700w, or XV-6700) with my current service plan. If I buy one of the hybrid
phones (PPC/phone), can I still use my current phone (just not at the same
time)? My current phone (LG VX-3200) is a plain, simple cellphone, and you
know, in the event I can't make the hybrid thing work right or just don't
like it (I do have a 15-day return period), can I still use my existing
phone during the time I return the new phone? Or for that matter, is there a
reason I can't use my old phone (again, just not at the same time) while I
have the new phone? I'm not looking to trick Verizon, I'm just wondering if
I'm going to be without a phone if I have to return a new one. Thanks.

You can only have one phone activated at a time. You can switch them back
and forth on the VZW website using the Activate Phone feature.

That is, provided the old one is GPS capable.

I have an LG 8000 and an LG 8100. I read your post and you said that you can
switch back and forth between phones/equipment via the Verizon Wireless web
site under Activate Phone feature, It is not letting me switch to the 8000
from the 8100. How do I do that? I want to compare the 8000 to the 8100.
Memory, Signal, ect. from the area where I live and work. I noticed that I
can put more apps/games on the 8000 than I can on the 8100. The 8100 starts
out ( Right out of the box) with about 50% memory use up with no apps/games
or any thing on it. Just the firmware 07. I do not know if the 07 firmware
has any thing to do with it or is my phone bad? The 8000 had about 1% memory
used up right out of the box.

Does it say why it won't let you? I simply enter the ESN
I want to switch to with "other" or "repair" for the reason
and the new ESN is activated usually in 5 or 10 minutes.

What about that deal where one phone has to be off? Think that might
be the issue? I never did on online ESN swap, so I don't know for
sure.

I tried activating a non EVDO phone (1X) on my account and it seems that
they don't allow the switching of phones between 1X and EVDO. I
currently use the E815 and tried to activate my old Nokia (GPS
compatible) and it wouldn't go through.

I'm not familiar with the LG VX-3200. What matters is if it
is e911 compliant. Call VZW and ask.

If it is NOT compliant then once you deactivate in order to
activate another phone on your line you won't be able to
re-activate it again.

If it IS e911 compliant then you can activate one or the
other pretty much at will using the website.
