Hi, well first the web site would not work properly, it forced me to
choose, for instance, an handset insurance option even though I did not
want one. I called customer service and reached a great person who was
very helpful. I explained their web site was fouled up and I wanted the
promotional plan. She told me they knew the website was messed up and
they had a trouble ticket on it.
She set me up with the plan I wanted and it included a waiver of the
activation fees on the two phones. Now the fun starts. I get the phones
and they have not been set up by the manufacturer properly and cannot
be activated. After three hours on the phone wtih six different Verizon
"customer CARE representatives (HAHA)" we finally got both phones to
work. Then the worst part was getting the first bill WHICH BILLED US
FOR BOTH ACTIVATION FEES! I called Verizon and the first person said
"there was no such promotion" and he actually wanted me to fax
Verizon's own ad to him! I asked to speak to a supervisor and he
refused. So I called a different person and they had no clue either,
but they DID let me talk to someone who did. He found the promotion
that allowed me to waive the fee!! YEA! Only problem is, he said I'd
have to call "Telesales" department and go through this entire process
all over with them!?!?! At this point I so hate verizon that the only
reason I will continue to use their service is I HAVE NO CHOICE unless
I want to pay the 175$ fee to stop using their serice.

I would try one more call. Like every other business, Verizon has their duds
If that doesn't work, might I suggest working from the top down? Get a hold
of the top guy in sales. (It may have chenge hands in the 3 years from when
I had to do this) You will get his Administrative assistant but don't
worry. Explain, calmly, the problem. Include the date, time, and who you
spoke to. Also, make sure you mention the refusal to be transfered to a
supervisor znd the request to fax their own ad. Then sit back and watch what
happens. Even money says you will get a call back in a day or two.
I woldn't do this for any minor problem because this will shut down this
avenue for everyone. Even you if you have another problem.
Based on our handle, You seem to have given up but I would try this method
before I quit,

Yeah, it was kind of a low blow, but I just wanted to make sure he had
all the facts before deciding.;-)
To the OP: Sorry you had the trouble, but in my 10 1/2 years with
Bell Atlantic Mobile/Bell Atlantic Nynex Mobile/Verizon Wireless, my
experiences were generally very good. The only reason I left was due
to phone selection. Hopefully you can get the activation fees
credited and have good fortune with VZW.

Make that an Alltel customer who left VZW on good terms with 10 1/2
years experience with VZW/BANM/BAM. I think my input here can be of
use, and I don't post here simply to bash VZW.

Who? Me? Bash the beast?
