Forgive me if this was already mentioned, but tonight I went to a Verizon
Wireless kiosk within Circuit City and I picked up my "new every two" E815
phone and learned that there was a promotion running until July 1st that
gives you a FREE Jabra BT150 with this phone.

My "old" phone is a V710 and I'm very pleased with the look and feel of the
E815 and the several calls I made on the ride home were great.

To add icing to the cake while buying the phone tonight, the woman helping
me was quite easy on the eyes, and she waived the $10 fee to transfer the
contacts from my old phone because she said that I seemed nice.

All in all, a pretty good experience.

I did not get the insurance option and I haven't purchased a case yet
because I haven't found one that I like.

They charge 10.00 to transfer ? Verizon owned store charges 5.00 if just
off the streets. Buy a new phone and its free. Sounds like she wanted
you to think it would cost, give it to you for free, then you will tell
your family and friends.

Uh no they charge $10.00 and also charge a service fee of $25 to "turn on"
your new phone even if you are a long time customer.

I wasn't charged the $25 "turn on" fee, although she was turning me on in
other ways  :-)

I've never been charged a "turn-on fee" or a phonebook transfer.  Is this a
*new* thing?

Nothing new, the last time I renewed my contract they charged a fee for
each line. That required no credit check, building an account or
anything except scanning the ESN of the replacement phones.

Its one of those things that makes *all* wireless carriers look like a
bunch of thieves.

Just imagine if other busineses behaved the same way: "enjoy your new
TV, that will be $499 and a $35 mandatory equipment purchase fee..."
