Dual Mode Bag Phone26 Oct 2003 12:11 GMT1
Hello...can anyone tell me where I could find a bagphone with digital
capabilities? I know that they are extremely rare in the states, but
if anybody could even give me a model number, that would help.
I live in Florida now, and around here, Alltel will still activate
Getting Incoming Calls While Roaming?25 Oct 2003 10:34 GMT4
In the past, I've had difficulty getting the phone to ring when on trips
(150 to 300 miles from my local area). This was discussed in the Verizon NG,
and some codes were given which create a "forced log-on". [See below.] As I
understand it, this alerts the system to the phone's ...
Periodic 1xRTT signals in Virginia22 Oct 2003 05:08 GMT4
Verizon Wireless suffered a rather substantial network outage for a couple
hours last night here in central Virginia, namely the entire Richmond area
and points north to near Fredericksburg. As a workaround, I programmed
NAM2 of my VX6000 in such a way as to force it onto Alltel's ...
Audivox CDM-9100 Series19 Oct 2003 00:05 GMT8
I have an Audiovox CDM-9155GPX that was previously used on Western
Wireless.  I have a friend who has a malfunctioning phone and would like
to use mine for the time being.  I have the MSL on the Vox.  Is there
any way to change the MSL to a string of zeroes so that OTA updates ...
Portable Cell Site; Martinsville VA17 Oct 2003 10:56 GMT1
Saw the little trailer and miniture antenna mast for the first time, this
afternoon. It was set up across from the race track in Martinsville, VA. I
glanced at the signal meter and it was maxed!
Signals around Martinsville were pretty good, anyway. I suppose this was a

At my house, I have a very strong digital signal from Alltel. But when I
activate the browser, the signal drops to nothing and I get the message that
the Network is not available.
Could it be that my nearby tower does not support data? This is the only

Cellular SIDs database posted10 Oct 2003 05:28 GMT11
For those interested individuals, I have made available on my site a
database of all currently assigned Cellular AMPS SIDs as of the
transfer of Cellular SID administration from the FCC to the private
sector on October 1st.  An FCC-registered SID(s) is no longer a
Adding a line to existing service08 Oct 2003 14:48 GMT3
According to the Alltel web site, adding an additional line to an
account increases cost by $20 per month.  Are any better deals seen in
geographical areas?  The 1,000 MTM minute deal looks pretty good and we
get great service here in central VA.
updated way of checking minutes03 Oct 2003 03:19 GMT6
got this on my invoice today, to check minutes of use, dial #668 (#MOU)
it seems pretty good, broke minutes down by peak, offpeak, and m2m.
mobile-to-mobile minutes02 Oct 2003 19:32 GMT3
Does one have to be on the Alltel network for M-To-M to apply?  Do both
the caller and the called have to be on the network? The Alltel web site
