I have a serial cable for my Motorola 7868W which I use to send
scheduled faxes with free N&W minutes on a Total Freedom plan.
Last week, when my DSL service was down for several days, I attempted

Anyone switch their home number to an Alltel cell phone (or any cell
provider for that matter) using number portability?  Curious if it costs
money and what strings are attached.  Does one go to Alltel first to make
the switch?  Then you just have to cancel local phone service?
